Finally, after waiting for so long, got a copy of Rusydi's speech during the Grad Ceremony...

On the 2nd of January 2002, over 400 unsuspecting boys were whisked away to Sarimbun Camp by mid-afternoon for their secondary one orientation. What followed was a series of fortunate or unfortunate events, mud slides, PSLs, A-huts, Slay the Dragon, pumping, communal showers, the confidence walk, the dark knights, the walk of initiation and a host of other undesirable things that I am forbidden to talk about.

Like our first taste of Revada during lunch that day. Thank goodness it wasn't CDCS or we would have all applied to go to ASCI. Or vice-versa.

Good morning headmaster, deputy headmasters, teachers, parents and fellow Rafflesians.

Today those same, once-unsuspecting boys sit before us, and on this last day of school, we try to enjoy each other's company as best as we can, for today is also the last day that we are students of Raffles Institution. For four years, we have gone in and out of these portals day after day, and each day we have unknowingly added another piece of history to this 182-year old institution.

I remember asking my classmate some months ago, "How long more do we have?" And he replied "How long more till what? Common Test or the due date for Maths Assignment?" And so I told him, "How long more before we leave RI? 7-8 more weeks?" "Yeah, I think around there," he said. "Then I better hand in my English Biography soon."

Indeed, we have come fill circle. From innocent Sec 1 boys to not-so-innocent boys, from juniors to seniors, from the ones being taught, to the ones doing the teaching. Time does pass very quickly, especially when you're having fun, or playing DOTA or World of Warcraft. Guys, today is the day. Today is the day we're graduating, and the last day that we get to call each other classmates. Afterwards when we leave this hall, we can finally go out into the world and proudly proclaim that Raffles Institution is, and will always be, our beloved Alma Mater.

Nevertheless, it’s not really goodbye, as there's still next year, when we would join our sisters at the great nexus that is RJC. We can always look forward to next year's tutorial classes and promo exams, during which we can foster new friendships, even though we are busy finding ways to solve the ageing population in Singapore, or checking out the resident geology club.

And so, like the many seniors before us, we have eventually come to a point where we reflect about what we have done these years, and ask ourselves, "Has it truly been a fulfilling four years? Have I accomplished whatever it is that I had set out to do when I first entered this institution?" Nevertheless, as we think about the past, and plan for the future, at present, we must acknowledge the two special groups of people who have empowered us to come this far.

Our parents, who have constantly put up with our antics, for 16 years and counting. For telling us to sleep when it's already one o'clock in the morning, for giving us ideas when we're rushing our philo essay due the next day, for reminding us that we have a Integration pop quiz the following week, for signing the chemistry test that we didn't do too well for, and of course for waking us up to go to school.

Mums, Dads, Thank You.

The other special group of people would nonetheless be our beloved teachers, and our year-heads Mr Desmond Tan and Mrs Tan Lai Lin. Thank you for giving us an extension for our I-learning homework, thank you for not penalizing us when we didn't place our Maths Assignment in your pigeon hole by 7.25, thank you for helping us with our Magship PT, and thank you for still marking our biography even though we handed it in three weeks ago.

To the Teachers of Raffles Institution, whom we shall always remember. Thank You.

Article: Secondary 2C gets scolded by Mr Magendiran. On the last week of school as a form of stress relief, some boys from 2C, actually most of them, were playing hantam bola with crushed paper balls. By some stroke of luck, one of the balls ricocheted off a window panel and fell down to the road adjacent the junior block. And by yet another stroke of luck, Mr Magendiran was driving his car on that road at the same time, so when the large ball of paper fell on his windscreen, he skidded and swerved his car and had a close brush with death. Mr Magendiran, I don't know if you still remember what you told us, but on behalf on the Sec 2C boys, I apologise and thank you for not being to hard on us, for there is always a season for everything.

Rafflesians, the four years have finally come to a close, but we shall always continue to be Rafflesians and add vigour to the Rafflesian Spirit. We have had no regrets, for indeed lived by and lived out the Rafflesian Principal of Honour in its entirety. As a parting word, I would like to remind everyone including myself, to stay true to that principle, to let our hearts be stirring, to keep our colours flying. Let us be steadfast yet versatile, fiery and formidable, and together we shall us blaze forth to glory, in one strong spirit.

You-Know-Who Returns

In a statement last night, Senator of the High Council Asif Iqbal confirmed that You-Know-Who has returned onto the MSN network and is once more active.

The Senator's statement is met with much dismay, after all the assurances have been made that there is no truth whatsoever that You-Know-Who longer logs on to MSN or update his blog.

Details of the event last night are still hazy though it is believed that You-Know-Who has logged onto MSN and has somehow landed himself into the conversation window of a top-secret discussion of pineapples that Founder of the Geneva Convention Melvin Seah held.

The happening of such an event has also brought about much alarm in the High Council, due to the fact that as-recent-as-a-few-days-ago, Head of Spasm Department Clemens Chay had received requests to remove certain objectionable (or unobjectionable) materials from the Class blog. After much inferences, Detective Armchair Sherlocks suggested that someone might have tipped You-Know-Who off, causing him to logon and check out the class blog.

The High Council has tried every (maybe not) possible means to track You-Know-Who this afternoon during the trip to Orchard. It has unfortunately been futile, as You-Know-Who possess cheating powers far stronger than any other, making himself unplottable.

Meanwhile, the High Council urges all members of the class to remain vigilant for we are now faced with dark and difficult times. The Senator has also reassured the class that security has been tightened for tomorrow's outing. However, below are a few safety measures that members of the class should adopt:

1. Do NOT stray away from the group.
If you're so timid as to not be able to stay alone in a hotel/resort room, you'll find yourself even more lost and afraid in the middle of East Coast Park.

2. Go home BEFORE dark.
If you are those who'll scream in the bathroom when there is a blackout, then go home BEFORE dark.

3. Put on TRIPLE layers of insect repellent.
If you can't stand so much as a single mosquito bite, do make sure you put on 3 layers of insect repellant: insect repellant spray, mosquito bite, ultra-sonic device.

played dota jus now. wasnt much fun. we all jus kept getting owned. so jordan, navind and me sold our stuff and bought ironwood branches and sneaked into their base and dropped them. a hell lotta branches. (branches are almost the cheapest item). sometimes while trying to sneak near their base we get caught and then just die lor. i pity the other guy in our scourge team, he was trying to play properly but we fucked it up. so in the end he left and we used the extra money to buy more branches. we also chatted to them and pretended to be damn noob and dumb. eg ' we give you branch for golds as tributes, please no kill us no more' and 'we want to be joins sentinel' and the example below. and towards th ened we almost KSed their roshan but it was nto to be cos no one had a high damage spell like dagon and they kilt us while we trie dot ks. GG.

liverpool play sunderland later today. hope they can win. it doesnt matter to liverpool fans if crouch doesnt score as long as the team wins. the non-liverpool supporters seems to be very concerned though. even if crouch scored a hat trick n we ost, id be pissed. tho the media will have a field day.

We, the members (of this blog) from today, should be learning the German language. It is important that we need better communication between us. It will be good if all the members here can speak a little of this language, (German). A basic understanding will be enough, for I think that it is rather difficult to learn German in a serious and complete manner.

After a meeting with the opposition that went on last night, the council has reached a decision.

As proposed by Ihtimam, from now onwards, pictures (that you koped from somewhere else to post) must and shall be censored and acknowledged.

This will further encourage and teach the importance of academic integrity. As have been always taught and reemphasized to us, sources used must always be cited, whether in the APA or the MLA format.

Our most crazy Genetics members would love to go to the westernmost tip of Switzerland to the Geneva conference, headed by Melvin. In one of these grand buildings.



The crazier Council members with a penchant for being a Hitler (eg Buble) might like to check out other destinations just north of Switzerland.



However, not everyone in this class is going to make it big in politics. I'm sure that we all know that. Some prefer (and are going to) to take the religious route and enter a seminary, perhaps even make it to the world's biggest stage. Introducing to you the abode of the legendary Pope Shawn Paul.



Oh and remembering his love for sports, we might try to find a stadium nearby. After all, you can take the man out of sports but you can't take the sports out of the man. Perhaps Pope Shawn would have a future in Serie A.

Wanted: Dead or Alive

Investigation to the not-so-recent pineapple-planting incident has recommenced last night. Present at last night's discussion were President of the Republic of 4J Lim Yejie, Detective Armchair Sherlocks, victim Asif Iqbal and I.

When asked to recall what actually happened on that day of the crime President Lim says"He's [The pineapple planter's] one of the first-rate cunt" while Asif Iqbal claims that he "cant really remember".

A handful of pineapples were being discovered on the seats of some of our comrades sometime ago. It is highly suspected that the deed is done by a traitor amongst our midst. A reward of 10,000 rupiah is offered for anyone who is able to provide us with some evidences pointing out who actually planted the pineapples.

And whoever who did it for whatever reason, you watch out...

Settle for Half

Password systems are useless and not feasible on Blogger. If the council decides on a password system, the blog will either have to shift somewhere else (which is stupid and inconvenient) or we use some HTML code (like I have seen many times before). BUT, anyone can view source and get the password - making it completely useless.

Hence, I propose we SETTLE FOR HALF!

Comrades can post whatever you want on the blog, provided that no names are mentioned. What can anybody do even if we say something not-that-nice-but-true about a "him"?

There has been concern about a traitor in our midst. After discussion with YJ, I think it is not nescessary to remove our posts. I don't believe that removing posts are necessary. I rather liked the Clemens post and it seems a pity to take away such a brilliant piece of work. I hope you saved it somewhere, because I really find it a great pity. It's a great job of genius gone, just the way George Best was gone last night.

But anyway - regarding people visiting our humble blog. I don't see a need to put down a passwort, for this will serve no purpose except delaying fellow members from accessing the blog. This blog is not something we are ashamed of, it is an avenue of communication for our fellow comrades of the Reichstag. For two years we have learnt the subject of Social Studies, and any ignorant fucker can tell you that transparency is good. Also, in an active citizenry, we need to have people raising their honest viewpoints. Why the fuck should we hide our true feelings just because of certain people?

Thus, I really do not think that there is a need for the password. Of course, you must be careful not to defame or slander someone, for nowadays it is not safe to blog with this little thing called the Sedition Act around. However, so long there is no reference to which a person can be identified, then whoever intends to sue will have no case. Also, I don't think Zhang Kahn is going to sue Clemens for libel or something like that just over one silly article. And vice versa.

If you are not a member of 4J who is reading this, you are, once again, perfectly welcome to view our blog. However, we cannot guarantee that you will not be affected by what you read. Soccer

In light of the aging population, we should have a soccer session real soon.

Granted, soccer does not produce offspring, but it prevents you from aging. Soccer stimulates the mind in the form of tactical gameplay, and the physical self in the dribbling, the tackling, the shooting and the banging into the occasional goalposts.

So, what do you all say about some soccer soon?

We could have it, like:
1) Street soccer court near Clemens's place
2) Street soccer court near Braddell (to train the team's adaptability on away grounds)
3) Astroturf (weak choice)
4) Field (another weak choice)

Class Towning

Hey bastards, grad dinner is coming up and we're not allowed to dress in adidas, nike (& for me, reebok) sports apparell. We're expected to be like gentlemen and wear some decent clothes. I for one dont have much decent clothes in me closet except for the occasional collared shirt. As such, I suggest we go towning as a class. We could visit those mega department stores like robinsons n john little which have a large men's (not boys) section where we might be able to find something decent looking to match our budgets. IWe might nt have to buy on the day itself but it helps to know the prices n all to make an informed decision. This idea was suggested to me by James Miao some time back and i find it a good one.

More interestingly, we might be able to spot jin or five him the customary 'where are you' call. The answer will most invariably be around town (never specifying which to appear cool) and we can go hunting for jin. we could even set up one of us to meet him and the rest follow and take spy pics of jin. the person designated to meet jin can then just disappear from him, eg. going up and escalator n jin goes first and the other guy runs away into the crowd. it ought to be ok fun.

OKay the videos is like 42 minutes long.

Now we left half of the subtitles.

Thanks to Xj who did a massive amount of work, he did the transition, cropping and subtitles. He did basically everything.

This template isn't all that unpassable.

But anyway, the new template I'm working on is well under way. It's completed. Just that I'm still short of the CLASS LOGO!! And the photograph that ChongZhi took isn't complete and in that state (after a year or so), it really looks ugly.

Hence, I'm urging whoever knows what program was used to create the logo, to please step forth and TELL ME or SEND ME the logo. Thank you!

holiday objectives

here are my illustrious objectives for this holiday:

1) once I get cable (internet), I shall catch up with danny and kenneth tay in levels
2) source for a good japanese class, and start in january!
3) get over my grief at leaving secondary school-- the period I promised myself I would play and then stop at JC.
4) evade going on holiday as 10-20 days of no WoW or NwN= teh suck
5) write more chapters, already done re-editing the old ones (heheh)
6) strip carl again

join WoW today, it costs 83 cents a day. There are 4 of us in this class actively playing and 11 Sec 4 RI boys in total (as far as I know, anyway). more will join the revolution!!

oh, and Zheng Lei, can you come up with a nice (or passable) template for our class? I can do it, but it'll take longer and look shittier, also because my sister has snatched the ()@#)(@ internet from me.

Will whoever designed the 4J logo (Rusydi?), please tell me what program you used to design it. Or simply send me the softcopy of the picture.

I'm redesigning the template, due to the feedback received. Will need the class logo for the new blaik-themed layout.
